Annual Summer School

The CREATE MaQTech cohort have the chance to participate in an annual training school. The summer school program contains lectures given by expert PIs and collaborators, supplemented by tailored immersive experiences and experiential opportunities that develop professional competencies needed to become leaders in quantum hardware development within the academic, public, or private sectors. The location of the school rotates annually to give trainees access to unique non-academic facilities.

In the summer school, trainees participate in a wide variety of relevant training and practice including

  • Courses on standards and metrology
  • Competitions with industry panels judging students’ entrepreneurship proposals
  • Hands-on theoretical and experimental projects
  • Teachings from Canadian and international partners

The summer school also delivers training beyond technical skills through workshops on knowledge mobilization, communication, intellectual property, regulation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship. Trainees have a chance to build leadership, project management, and networking skills to facilitate integration into the workplace.

Finally, students’ startups are connected with technology business accelerators such as ACET and at uOttawa resources such as startup garage and eHub.
