Program Activities

MaQTech provides a series of activities designed to transcend the professional skills acquired through a regular graduate experience. Supported by the participating universities and partners, MaQTech empowers students to pursue their own career pathway in a field that is in high demand of talent.

Career Preparation and Exploration – Students are offered with several workshops through our annual retreats tailored towards careers in—and especially outside—academia.
Science Communication – The ability to effectively share scientific knowledge and expertise to a broad audience (peers, public, decision makers, industry) is developed throughout dedicated presentations.
Entrepreneurship – The program offers entrepreneurship sessions for helping HQP to take an innovation to market and to handle Intellectual Property.
Knowledge mobilization – MaQTech provides specific trainings to be adept at effective knowledge mobilization between academia and industry or government and communication to the public for ensuring acceptance of quantum technologies.
Leadership and organizational skills – The program enables HQP through our annual summer schools and annual retreats, to develop leadership skills applicable to a wide range of academic and non-academic careers.
Ethics & Integrity – Annual summer school lectures include topics of ethics and integrity to discuss issues around authorship, peer review, intellectual conflicts of interest, acknowledging the work of others in research and academic papers and publications, and questions about responsible research and scholarship.
Networking and building a quantum community – MaQTech annual summer school and retreat networking events provide ample opportunities for trainees to develop a rich network in the field of quantum science, including dedicated networking sessions
Inclusive teamwork – During annual summer schools and annual retreats, the students are exposed to a range of skills including the ability to guide and contribute to teamwork, and the ability to communicate effectively.
Well-Being – Trained speakers from the university community are invited to each of our annual summer schools to deliver seminars helping students to learn, practice, and master effective wellness and self-care strategies.

Science Policy – Students are offered with presentations and workshops about the challenges for allocating resources for the conduct of science towards the goal of best serving the public interest.
